I have a Keystone Springdale and I had cause to remove my propane cylinders for refill and when I reinstalled them, I thought I had maybe positioned the regulator backwards. It looked like the regulator was mounted facing toward the TT with the sightglass only viewable from between the front wall and the cylinders. So I would have to somehow fit my head into that space, turn sideways and then could see if it was red or green.I switched it around so I could see it from the front and I am thinking of putting a piece of plexiglass or something similar across a hole in the tank cover to be able to see without pulling the cover. Thanks, Didn't think it made a difference, but I saw some pictures of an unrelated mod somebody else did and it faced the TT wall as well. Just making sure there was no design reason.Mike

They usually put them between the tanks and trailer wall. Can get away with a shorter hose (4 to 6 inches shorter maybe) between the regulator and trailer, but either way is fine.

Why do they install these facing the wrong way?? Only thing I can think of is it makes the hose to under the TT shorter. I reversed ours and lowered the regulator on the threaded rod by adding a 1/2" nut and double-nutting the bracket lower on the rod. The only other solution was to get a longer hose which would have been quite a bit longer and expensive. While I was at it, I also double nutted the threaded rod at the bottom to make it more stable on the tank support tray.

The same person installs the regulator that designs most campers, a non-camper. I wonder how few RV's actually get field tested by the factory? Its a wonder they don't put the regulator under the tanks so that one would have to lay on the ground to check them.

Mine is faceing the trailer, bought a $1.00 mirror at the camp store. hold the mirror so I can see the regulator, no biggie.

Why are they set up that way? I don't know but my Springdale was the same way. I swapped positions of the tanks and put the window facing front so I could see it.

It has an indicator window to show when the tank is empty.
