Power Awning Issues (Solera) on a Cruiser Fun Finder 214WSD

Hi all,

Long time forum lurker and first time poster with questions regarding an issue with my power awning (by Solera) on my 2014 Cruiser Fun Finder 214WSD.

We've had our travel trailer for over a year and after not being used for about 2 months over the winter, we started having issues with our power awning.

When we first tried to extend our awning, nothing would work. We eventually had to start it manually near the motor, and it started to work. It would extend normally, but would struggle retracting. After a few inches retracting, the relay behind the control panel would trip out. And every now and then, it would stop altogether, and would start up again after taking a few breaks.

I read that it may be because of the power wire it came with (16 gauge) is not powerful enough, so we replaced it with a 12 gauge wire. However, that did not work.

Could the motor be bad even though it would extend fine but not retract properly? Or could it be any other issues?

Thank you for your time and any suggestions you may have.

Tim
  • Be sure your battery is fully charged. Charge it while disconnected to the trailer and then try it. Also be sure there is enough water in the battery before charging.
  • Thanks for the tip. Would that still be the case even though we are plugged in? I forgot to mention that while we haven't ran the awning in two months, we were always plugged into power at our home.

  • Our 2010 Sunnybrook TT's awning motor acted in the same manner as your motor...$300.00 later a new awning motor all is back to normal.

  • Crossing my fingers that that's not the case just yet. I did find a new motor for $208 to replace it in case that's the issue, but holding off on getting it until we've exhausted all options. Thanks!
