Propane tank soft covers

Does anyone have actual experience with the soft covers available for the tongue mounted propane tanks. I have two 30lb tanks & am considering replacing the existing hard cover. I would like comments concerning the soft covers only. Fitment, durability, etc.

I am finding ADCO & CAMCO only. Any others?

I had the ADCO one. Horrible really. Used a bungee to keep it from blowing away for a season, then decided I was better off without one.

I'm looking at a hardcover, but want to mount a toolbox first then see if they fit. If the hardcover doesn't fit, I'll stick to no cover.

I had a soft cover for one season. It had the zipper that allowed me to cut on and off the propane without taking the whole thing off.

It lasted no more than one year. I would not have another one.

As I mentioned,I have already popped out a couple rivets adding a longer hose for external propane tanks because the fit is to tight on the molded propane covers even without the longer hose.

The new Adco type vinyl covers are less expensive and have easier access to the tanks and regulator.



If mine fail me again,the one above will be it's replacement!

I have no experience with soft covers. Or, hard ones for that reason. My friends and I just don't use any cover. I just keep everything painted up nice. Every spring I repaint the tanks, tank holder, and the hitch on the front of mt TT.

If I trade tanks during the season I always make sure I get a nice looking one and then I pull off the advertizing plastic rapper they have put on it.

I currently have a hard cover, but it is very snug & difficult to remove as the electric tongue jack housing is up against it. It is also the old style & there is not a hinged cover on the top for easy access.

I don't really want to turn the jack head. I figure I could use the soft cover during the 5-6 month RV season we have in my area & put the hard cover on when in winter storage.

I used them for 15-20 years and never had a problem.The fit was great.Elastic on the bottom and you just slipped them over the tanks and was good to go.They worked just fine.

Never had one rot or loose the elasticity.They are made of the same stuff that the air conditioner covers and wheel covers are and they seem to last forever also!

Like other say they are junk !! Hardly last a season here in the AZ heat. To me hard covers are the only way to go

FWIW you are not required to have a cover providing the cylinder is turned so the valve is protected by the collar. You do need a cover on the regulator.

Soft covers was all they used to have and most trailers came without a tank cover at all..My experience with them is positive infact,other than the looks I much prefer the soft.

Once you modify your tanks to include a longer hose for 25 gallon tanks,it starts to pop out the rivets of the plastic covers.Not so with the Adco type soft covers atleast in my uses.

Yes. I have one on my pop up. (My trailer's is a hard cover.)
The soft covers have a zippered opening to access the valves, fit snugly and look good for about 2 years. They are affected by sunlight and crack. They also soil easily and the two-piece top board (under the cover to give it shape) is merely cardboard and gives out in about a year. I'd put a hard cover on the pop up if the bunk end would clear it.

I got a soft cover on our PUP, got it about 15 years ago. I agree, when it gets weather abit and the elastic goes, it won't stay on. (I've had it come off, just once. I now use a bungee cord to keep it on.)
