Hi all,We are new to the world of Campering. We just purchased a new 2017 Kodiak 243BHSL. We have two weeks before we pick it up which gives us time to make a few decisions in dealer offerings. I think we have pretty much decided that the extended warranty isn't worth the money based in the forums.What we are trying to decide on first is really the protective coating. They are offering the Trident Protection Systems. Right now they are quoting $1700 for the exterior, slide, interior, and awning. The dealer is advertising this as a product that is applied and then the trailer doesn't need to be covered (skeptic on that). Big question is does this actually do anything. It can still be waxed, so does this help protect it even more. If it isn't needed... What should be done to protect the TT in a similar manner... In other words, what do I apply to cushions, is a cover a must, is just a simple wax enough 1or2 times a year.I'd love to hear feedback from anyone who has actually used this system.

Never used it, never would.Wash and a good wax. All you need. Keep the roof clean and keep an eye out for corrosion, rubber degradation, etc.Never used a cover, but putting the RV under cover (garage/storage/etc) is a good idea when not in use.

Same thing as the "anti-rust" wax car dealers try to sell. Don't bother. Just wash and wax your camper. If you really want you can spray the interior cushions yourself with something like Scotchguard, but I don't think that is necessary either. As to buying a full cover to go over your camper, that is up to you. Plenty of reading about that here on these forums. I cover my TT up here in New England because the camper sits for months during the winter. Other people don't. Ideally, you would be able to park the camper in a suitably big garage!

Actually, I am interested in this coating, though the best I know of last 6 months or so. If it is a UV protection, look into a product called 303 UV protectant. You can find it on Amazon. It works well but needs to be re-applied several times a year. No way would I bite on the dealer option. Even if it is comparable, they are marking it up several times.

If you want, there are products like Scotchguard you can apply to seats and cloth.

We just never found a need to. Interior of our camper looks pretty good going on its' 13th camping season!

They are trying to sell you an overpriced wax job that is about 75 percent profit for them.

X2 on the 303 Protectant. It has UV protection ans was developed to protect NASA equipment from sun and exposure to the elements.

Just wash and use 303 Protectant on the decals, or other shoddy looking spots, and you'll be fine!

Same thing as the "anti-rust" wax car dealers try to sell. Don't bother. Just wash and wax your camper. If you really want you can spray the interior cushions yourself with something like Scotchguard, but I don't think that is necessary either.

As to buying a full cover to go over your camper, that is up to you. Plenty of reading about that here on these forums. I cover my TT up here in New England because the camper sits for months during the winter. Other people don't. Ideally, you would be able to park the camper in a suitably big garage!
