Puzzled by lack of decent RV parks in N.C.

Was looking to try the bike trails in Raleigh N.C. which seem to be quite nice from all information. Planned to take the new 28 ft TT down there wk end of April 26th.But after looking on RV park review website I cannot find anything within 20 miles that anyone reccomends except one about 22 miles away and when I called they are closed for renovation right now. Seems that the State of N.C. has some nice tourist attractions but not much on RV parks.Am I missing something?

Check online for campgrounds in Moncure (Cotten's Campground) and Corinth (Dickens RV Park).

Both are ~ 30 minutes south of Raleigh just off US1. They are also within 20 minutes from the start point to the "American Tobacco Trail" which is a walking/bicycling trail. that winds its way thru Wake and Durham Counties.

For National park/forest/etc. camping try recreation.gov
For the State parks try ncparks.gov
For commercial RV parks and resorts try the link off the main Good Sam Club page.
For paved bike trails try traillink.com - it will allow you to move the map around to see if there is a park nearby, but you'll still have to check each park to see if they have camping.

There are a lot of nice parks in North Carolina, but trying to find a park in any state that is close to a non-mountain bike trial can be frustrating. We like to ride on rails-to-trails bike routes, but it can be a booger to track down one that is close to good camping. I use traillink.com, then expand the map until I can see what parks are nearby (green.) Then, I have to look at the info for each of those parks to see if there is camping. I wish there were a better way, but that's the best that I have found so far...

As previously posted, the only camping area in Raleigh is the NC State Fairgrounds. We use it often when visiting our daughter's family in Raleigh. Although they do not take reservations, we've always had a good site - they do close to the public the month of October for the State Fair, though.

What app are you using to find campsites?

No, not a lot of camping near Raleigh. It's not really that kind of a destination city.

As has been said, fairgrounds is the only game in town. Unless there is a big event happening there they will have space.

Not sure about the Raleigh area, but there are nice places in other parts of the state. Check out the COE parks, state parks, etc... The NC mountains are loaded with quality CG's. Good luck.
