Question about steel wheels

I am planning on putting maxxis 8008 load range D tires on my camper and someone on the forest river forums suggested I make sure the rims can handle 65 psi. I looked on the back of the rim and all it showed was a max load rating. I called Lions head which is the rim manufacturer and the lady said the rim did not have a PSI rsting, only the tire and valve stem. I'm assuming I'll be ok as long as I don't exceed the weight rating of the wheels. Am I correct?
  • The max weight rating on the tire will be a little more than what the rim allows but the carried weight of the trailer should remain the same. The only thing I would be changing is the amount of air pressure to take away the squishy feel of the tires
  • Does the max weight rating of the rim match the weight rating of the Maxxis LR D tires? If so, from what I understand you should be good to go running the tire's at max psi!
  • What size? Maxxis while probably the best of the ST tires is probably still not nearly as good as quality LT tires on heavier trailers.
