Question for Ford mechanics 2006 F-250 3v 5.4?

No you don't have to remove the cab.
Remove the radiator, shroud, and front cross brace and you will have plenty of room to remove the engine.
Don't know what your asking about the transmission.

Yes, it is a TorqShift transmission.

Wasn't sure they put it behind the 5.4. I knew it was behind the Diesel and V-10.

What Mark didn't tell you is that he helped design that transmission and is a valuable resource on the Ford forums.

Perfect Fummins candidate! 12Valve/torqshift is a great combo.

Pick up a good used 5.4, drop it in and you're ready to go.

Don't really need it for towing already have a Diesel and a V-10 long bed crew cabs. This is a single cab to run around town that I might leave at the seasonal site.

With all the cam phaser issues I don't know if I could trust a used 5.4. I'm wondering about a rebuilt long block? Most of the used engines I see have high miles. I don't know what would be acceptable mileage on a used 5.4?

Make sure you get a 5.4 out of a superduty. No cam phasers to deal with.

Rock Auto has rebuilt 5.4's for about $2,600 ish after core charge.
