"Toddler Proofing"

LOL!! True. And just TRY to get a bottle of meds open.

We had three kids all go through toddler days in our RVs over the years. The only way to toddler proof is handcuffs. We tried all those fancy gadgets in our home, and the only person who could open the stinking cabinets doors were the kids. I was the one locked out. Same thing for that stupid toilet seat cover lock. It was more like parent proofing.

I like the idea of the baby/doggie gate the best. Easy to remove when you need to. No little 2-legged ones here, but 4 4-legged and DH has built some attractive oak gates that keep our babies in or out of whatever. The downside at our house is the Border Collie "Cubbie" has mastered the art of unlatching a couple of the gates, even though they're different latches on all 4 gates. She's just WAY to smart for us! The toddler person will figure it out soon enough, but this seems easiest for now. You need to remember that in a true emergency, you need to be able to get out in a hurry and not have to fiddle around with fancy fixes. Hang in there, they grow up.....then you REALLY have problems!

Seems like a barrel bolt, hook-eye, or something of that sort would work on the screen door.

we have been camping with babies, and dogs in tents, popup, and hybrid. The popup was baby proofed with hook and latch, and we did zip with hybrid. At 2 she sleeps on the outer bunk screen edge, and with our 5 year old dd. In the past the then infant to 1 year old slept in Peapod plus on side bed, or lower rear bunkbed with foldable bed railing. They learn quick and adapt to situations.

Just be a little vigilant. Our youngest is almost 3 and does pretty good. Only fell of the stairs once and that was climbing up and it was like 8 in. She learned. It is a short time cause in a year or two all is good.

Not just inside but outside. Please be careful of Campfire rings, some are perfect height for little one knees to fall backwards into fire pit. Just a second is all it took for neighbors little girl to fall backwards, some of diaper melted. She was OK but never thought about falling backwards.

Not everyones rig has that folding handle, it was an upgrade on ours. That said, I never thought of using it for that, but that's a great idea, I'm doing that from now on to keep the dog in ;)

I take the large foldout handle next to the stairs and fold it so that it covers the screen door. It's easy to move it in and out of position through the sliding opening on the screen door.

Why not just an old fashioned hook and eye latch?
