Ram 1500 Diesel Towing Capacity?

more important will be the payload capacity, on the 1500 diesel Ram.
from what i've read, many of them have very low payload capacities, compared to what their towing capacity is.

i'm sure it's varies with the specs, like rear end ratio, cab/bed size, HD tow package or not and any other add-ons.

Spec one out here.

And now, a word from all the Ecodiesel haters.........

I had no problem finding a lot of Ecodiesels that had 1500 plus lbs of payload.

Lots have 800 or 900 lbs but they tend to be loaded models.

One of the best tow guides on the web out of any of the manufacturers RAM tow guide. Spend some time and play with it.

Just happen to be at a dealership today with a Ram 1500 Diesel on the showroom floor. It was a Laramie 4x4 with most all options. It had a sticker price of just over $60,000 and a payload of 994 pounds. Sorry, I don't know what towing weights were.

Probably all of them are correct. Depending on the version of the truck. Much more to tow capacities than the engine.

Now that flat sucks. Less than 1000 payload!! Dang... a couple with a kid and a dog would have a hard time with a pop up with that capacity.

I do not know for myself what the various cargo capacites are. I do know a neighbor has a 1500 Eco Diesel, and he is towing a 24 ft or so Fun Finder Travel trailer. Don't know how much he knows about various capacities etc as we don't talk much. I have to assume he knows some, since this is his second TT.

I wouldn't get a loaded out version if you're towing. That said, I think the Ram's payload is rather conservative. Head on over to the ram1500diesel forum and ask the guys who are towing and hauling with them. One guy is a RV hauler for Airstream and lots of other people hauling cargo and trailers.

u need the 2 seater, 2wd stripper model for max payload

I owned a 2004 2wd stripper model once, didn't even have power windows, power locks or air con... bench vinyl seat... I was lucky it had automatic tranny... never again, I'm too much of a sissy / spoiled to put up with stripper models, but too poor to pay 50-60-70k for a truck.

Paying that much, I guess the guys drivin their 70+k loaded out Laramie 3500 diesels deserve to make some noise as they roll through the campgrounds, just like the guys in the similarly priced corvettes get to cruise at idle down town with their engines burbling away through tuned exhaust :)
