Ram Power Wagon MPG (6.4 Hemi and 8 speed)

TFL just ran a test. 70 mph in a Tradesman Power Wagon. They got 16.5 mpg hwy. The mpg display and the hand calculated figured agreed too BTW. VIDEO

They got an 8.1 sec 0-60 at a mile above sea level too with the 8 speed. The 2017 Power Wagon was 9.7 sec 0-60. That should make a 2500 without the power wagon pkg in the 7 second range 0-60.

I had people tell me I was full of it when I said my 6.4L Hemi could get 19 mpg hwy. My 2500 6.4L Hemi had highway tread tires and was not lifted like the PW is, and I was running 100 Km/h (62 mph) which is the speed limit here vs the 70 mph they ram their test at.

Can't wait to see what they come out with next in the HD gas engine area. Rumor mill says they have a 7.0L V8 in testing (which just happens to equal 426 cu in). I think they took the 5.7L Hemi away as an option in the 2500/3500 trucks because the 6.4L will be the base engine and the 7.0L Hemi will be the upgrade option.
  • I tow commercially with the ZF 8 speed 5 years over 540,000 miles to 16k CVW behind 465 foot pounds of torque. Never The first issue. I do have a Green Diesel Engineering transmission tune and change the fluid every 100k three times including a filter change. I’ve said for years this is going to make HD with Hemi a much better truck. About time Ram gets this done along with the 7.0 liter to stay competitive with Fords new 7.3 & GMs new 6.6 gassers and 10 speeds. Along with about 425 HP & 500 TQ would be nice.
  • The newest MotorTrend has an article on the new RAM HDs. They are very complimentary overall, but really like the new transmission in the Hemi. Sounds like it makes it a completely different truck.
