RDS Tank?

What size rds tank would you choose for your new 8 foot bed truck 3500, 50, 75 or go big or not at all 95-100?

I love my truck, but the one complaint I have is that with the short bed it has a small fuel tank. I put in a 41 gallon RDS with the auto feed connection and it gives me the ability to fill up both tanks and go to an area with high gas prices and not have to fill up there. The other thing is that when on a long trip I can often drive to my destination and still have fuel left. I will say that the only complaint I have about RDS is that they are aluminum and can get damaged easily. I am happy with that size as it doesn't take up too much room in the bed. Just so you are aware, you will always have a few gallons of fuel that will remain in the bottom of the tank, that will not drain out through the auto feed system.

At my age I have to stop and pee long before I have to refill my 36 gallons so i just fill up at the same time.

If a person is more interested in other things in life than finding the very next fuel stop available, or, gosh, is somehow trying to make some time and not interested in visiting every other loves or flying J on I 80 then aux fuel tanks make sense.
I've packed slip tanks in my work trucks (gassers) for years. Had opportunity to toss one in my personal truck for a X country trip last year......was great.
Only stopped once for fuel between WA and WI. I had to get out and pump my fuel into the truck, but way more convienent than stopping 5x for fuel in 2 days.

Sounds like you made a good choice.

For the record, I have the 60 gallon tank/tool box combo. Best upgrade I’ve done to the truck. Stop when and where you want to, not because you have to find fuel.

I use a 95 gal gravity feed tank, works great and just pulled 700 miles without stopping for fuel, only get around 8.0 so this works for me. Love being able to get fuel when I want, not when I have to. Wouldn't trade it for the world. Saved almost 1 dollar a gallon on fill up. Kind of makes it all worthwhile but even if I didn't save any money it makes it so much easier to get fuel when you want to.

I average around 8.5 mpg and I have a 40 gal gravity fed system and it works great for us.most of our trips are only 2-3 hours but it's great to not have to go get fuel when on our trips. We visit a lot of lakes that are 15-20 miles to the nearest fuel pump and those are usually small town or country stores that I'm sure dont sell alot.

I put a 40 on mine best thing I have ever done to my truck. If I had an 8ft bed I may have gone bigger. Don’t think I would go 90-100 unless I got to go a lot more.

I have the 40 gal RDS and it works very well. It allows me to put lawn chairs etc. on top of the tank, still under the hard cover. I do have a tool box in the rear however so that makes my truck 5iver specific most of the time.

I gave a RDS 62 gal wedge, this is my second truck with it. Even my wife thinks it was a great investment. I use the RDS gravity feed kit with it, works perfectly. What's a few more pounds when you're towing 16,000? Never notice the extra weight.

Plus the added fuel gives you the option to buy fuel when you find a lower price. My truck don't mind the increase in weight.
