Removing Norcold Roof Cap

I need to inspect under the cap and am not sure how to remove it. There seem to be 4 screws, but they appear to be covered with caulk.

If this a correct observation? If I dig out the caulk will I find, say, Phillips head screws underneath?

Thanks.
  • You have to remove the calk. As you have noticed, the screws are recessed. The calk is to cover the heads to keep them from rusting.

Correct answer, but the caulk is also to keep the water/rain from leaking through so recaulk when done

X2 and when you get them out, take to store and get stainless and look with a flash light down inside. I was shocked how much junk was inside mine. If cover is old don't be surprised if it falls apart or if you break it when taking it off. Sun faded plastic is not strong.

All good advise above, and if your cover breaks or cracks, Camco makes a cheaper replacement for the original. Had to replace one on my old trailer. Easy job.

I replaced ours with the Camco. It comes with hole dimples for both the Norcold and Dometic. Just drill out the ones for which fridge you have. As Ron said, easy job.
