There should be a screw threaded into each side of the "C" hinge. Remove the two screws and slide the vent cover sideways off the "C" hinge. We sprayed the hinge with silicone lubricant and then used a block of wood and a hammer to get the vent cover off. If didn't come off easily because there was roof patch on the hinge. We removed a great deal of old roof patch material during the replacement.
We were lucky and did not have much lap sealant in the hinge area. There was one spot and we quickly found out that it doesn’t take much to gum things up. We stripped all of the original Parbond around the hatch as part of our project to re-seal the entire roof anyway. This just added a few more hours with plastic putty knife and our new best friend ... mineral spirits :-)
The “C” hinge is now as “clean as a whistle” and works great. All of this made cover installation a snap. Our cover does not have small screws on the “C” hinge but we’re thinking about adding one on each end to help keep the cover in place when opened. Some of our travels take us to windy places and we don’t need the cover to slide (even just a little) and stress the lift operator.
Thanks to all for sharing your knowledge about finding the right part and your experience with the cover replacement.
