Right at Freezing temps

So I need some peoples input...We're planning to camp on Thankgiving, which is usually nice around these parts. I just got a weather update that it's supposed to drop to 31 degrees this Friday and Saturday (as a low). Those are the only two cold nights and rest of the following week in in the mid 40's as a low. Do I need to worry about winterizing, or would it be okay to wait until after our trip?

Great question! I think you received the responses you needed.

What takes a toll on pipes is the freeze-thaw-freeze-thaw, repeat routine.

I like the positive attitude...the slide could have got ornery on your trip, so I would be glad that it broke before hand as well.

I like the idea of camping on Thanksgiving....

You, sir, win the award for looking at things on the bright side. I've never heard of anyone happy about a broken slide before. :B

So I have good news and bad. Bad news is that my slide just broke on me. Good news is that my slide broke; which is covered under warranty since I've only had it a few weeks. Now I'll take it to the dealer tomorrow for the repair; which of course they'll have it for a couple of weeks; and ask that they put it in the service bay for the cold weekend. I know the dealer, so that will not be a problem.

2oldman is correct, I have been into the mid twenties and have not had a problem. Your rv is a huge heat sink and it would take more than a dip into the high twenties or low thirties to freeze things up, but if you are worried then go ahead and drain things. I would not worry if it were mine.

You'll be ok. However, if you're going to worry about it, then drain stuff. Pipes are the most vulnerable. Not tanks.

Can you run your gas furnace on battery at all?

I would drain the tanks, and open taps and low point drains plus drain HW tank. Unless it stays sub zero for the better part of a day and night whats left in lines/tanks will be just fine. Lets hope that forecast is accurate....because a few more degrees drop could make a critical difference

There are no 100% guarantees. However it generally takes a hard freeze to cause damage. If it drops below 32ยบ for just a few hours during the overnight you should be fine.
Drain water heater and drain system. You should be fine.
I assume you do not have electric available at your storage site.

I won't be in the rig...it'll be in storage. I'm hoping that I don't have to winterize twice since we're taking it out Thanksgiving. If I have to, I'll pull it out of storage and plug it in, turn on the heat.

If you are going to be in the rig, and have heat on, don't worry about it at those temps.
