Rims

Look for powder coating places near you. They can media blast, refinish/ polish, and reclear the rims. Alternatively new rims run about $100 each.

Many options available depending on how bad this corrosion is. Do a Google search and you would likely have a good answer for your particular situation. Pictures of the corrosionin this thread would also prompt more directed and specific suggestions. :)

An other friend of mine said to paint them silver and then clear coat them. I should have gotten steel and kept painting them?

I have not done it myself but just a a set done in Phoenix AZ for a Vet were pretty rough they look like new now cost was $300 with a type of clear coat to preserve them, will see.
