- AuntEthelExplorerThe trip of a lifetime.....Black Hills, Custer St. Park, Cody, Wy, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Jackson Hole.....14 days, 4008 miles! It was fabulous!
- dadmomhExplorerReally doesn't seem like much this year, but guess it's not bad.....1 weekend at our fav CG close to home, 1 wet, rainy, nasty weekend at a SP between here and Nashville, next trip was a beautiful drive to deliver our beloved ROO to it's new owners in KY. Actually, probably only counts as 1/2 a trip, was to go to RVW to pick up our new TT, even before we sold the ROO. A weekend at our other nearby CG and then a week in Nashville for our 50th anniversary. Coming up next weekend is a peaceful, quiet weekend with DS#2 in KY with no DIL or DGSs...just the 3 of us. Finally a 4 day trip to the Cumberland River with DS#1 who DOES NOT CAMP!!! But seems like we really haven't been anywhere. And how can it be close to the end of summer??? But gotta love fall camping the best.
- Fixed_Sight_TraExplorerMaiden voyage
Night 1 Monarch Pass, CO. Okay campground. Spots too close together
Night 2 Near St. Elmo, CO. Very nice
Night 3 Antero Reservoir, CO . Holy Crap! Never seen that many mosquitos. Left early next am.
Night 4 Twin peaks campground near Twin Lakes, CO. Very, very nice. Lots of trees and you can hear the river all night.
Trip 2.
Night 1 Green Mountain Res, CO. Nice and secluded but no trees and we could hear the trucks on the hwy.
Night 2 East edge of lake Granby. Very nice. - PadlinExplorer1 week on Cape Cod, have a couple week trip to Asheville NC come Sept planned. I unexpectedly retired 2 days ago so plans may change.
- tragusa3ExplorerNothing too fancy, but we've got over 35 nights in this year, which ain't bad for mostly weekends.
1- Lake Keowee, SC - Beautiful site right on the water
2- Smokemont, NC - Our top pick site right on the creek
3- Lake Jocassee, SC- A******site, but right next to family visiting from out of state.
4- Hunting Island State Park, SC - This was the highlight of our summer. We had our first pick site (reserved a year out) and spent the week right on the beach. No bugs, nice cool breeze, awesome view!
5- Cascade Lake, NC - another cherry site right on the water! Have to go back to this one!
Last summer was our first camping, and we were under the illusion that you just drove up and parked in awesome sites. Boy were we wrong. As you all know, the cherry sites are hard to get even a year in advance. So, this past winter, I was busy playing the reservation game, and it payed off big time. We had a truely blessed summer. - galexanderExplorerHave stayed close to home this year, gone to State Parks. Have a week long trip in August to Fort Robinson State Park out in the western part of the state, 10 hour drive. Good thing is that we've been out camping quite a bit this year. Happy Camping to All.
- Santa_FeExplorerOur mini Great American Road Trip starts on Sunday! Cape May, NJ for a weeklong stay; really looking forward to time away from home/work/stress.
- PAThwackerExplorerI am taking off this Monday for job interview. Full time gig with benefits and what not. Problem? 5 hours north, need to relocate a family, and might lose our house. The American nightmare, and I will lose $360 for the unpaid day off.
- PAThwackerExplorerI am consulting right now, you know, contracting without benefits. The new American dream. I can't afford to take off any unpaid days between the unpaid holidays and other nonsense that pops up in a year. We went away for Memorial day, 3 June weekends in a row, and the forth of July. In total over 2k in unpaid time off. I don't even think Ill hunt this year either. Weekend warrior time, and Ill limit recreation to canoeing and fishing.
- ryanb-72ExplorerRoad trip to Gatlinburg TN. stayed at an RV park and toured around a bit hiked up Mt Le Conte. then stopped off at Gulf Shores AL for a beach visit. thats about it for the whole summer. was hoping to catch one more weekend before the summer is over...... we'll see.
