I have a 2005 4Runner SR5 with the V8 that I bought new, so we've been towing campers with it for 7 years. I love trucks no matter what the brand but just haven't been able to make myself buy one. Even my buddies with Chevy trucks have told me, "If it's not broke don't fix it".
The first test for me was towing my Jayco 23B up a muddy dirt trail to dry camp in a horse pasture while turkey hunting on the Santee Indian Reservation in northern Nebraska. The truck guys that were with me couldn't believe it.
I fully expect to get at least 200,000 miles from my "country club SUV" ;) with minimal maintenance costs. I also use a WDH. I've been tempted by the F150 Ecoboost and by the Chevy 1500 but would have downgrade in terms of quality. I'm not brand loyal, capitalism is important to me. I like to buy from the most capitalist entity I can find and, right now, it seems like Japan is winning that battle (compared to the US anyway).
