rv spare tire mount

I’m looking for more storage space and was thinking about moving the spare tire from its storage place in the basement and mounting it under the front of the fifth wheel. Has anyone tried this or have suggestions?

Same idea...I mounted mine forward of the trailer axles.

My older fw has no membrane somewhat like Harold up above and is mounted near the rear with a crank tire cable set up. My sons was mounted at the very front but we felt it may drag in some situations so he carries it in the basement. I cant remember what the clearance was but it would never work for our boondocking.

Sure, go to a wrecking yard and buy a cable tire mount from any late model pickup. Mount it between the frame. Done. Be sure to get the rod that lowers the mount when at the wrecking yard.
