RV Trailer Cover

I am considering purchasing an RV Trailer Cover for our unit as it would be a heck of a lot easier to just winterize it, cover it and leave it at our lake lot. Right now we transport it 300km twice a year...once home and once to the lake. My question(s) are, is there any reasons why I should not consider this....is it bad for the unit, the walls, seals, bad for the roof etc. Is there anything I need to consider or think of before making this purchase?

I live in Canada where it can get to -40 degrees with 5-10 feet of snow for 8 months out of the year followed by a max +30ish degree summer for next 4 months.

Thanks in advance!!!!

  • 5-10 feet of snow would be enough for me to not leave it there! Just saying!:S Drag it home where you can take care of it.
    Good luck in your decision,

  • We cover our fifth wheel in New England, the cold and snow isn't really a problem it is the wind that can cause damage to the cover or if it gets loose damage the roof of the trailer . We have not had problems covering the trailer but it is stored in the driveway so if the cover did get loose we would see it and tie it back down or take it off . Some snow on top of the cover helps keep it from billowing in the wind
  • I use a cover because it keeps all the leaves and debris off the roof.

It also keeps the ice off the roof as the snow freezes and thaws.
  • Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money on an Element cover. Ours did not last 4 months. It allowed water under the cover due to hole in the top. Our ADCO held up well. Just my experience.
