We Currently have a 2015 22ft Premier trailer. I pull with a 2015 Duramax High Country.
The hooks on the safety chains do not fit the locations on the hitch. The angle / diameter of the holes prevents the chain hooks from fitting.
Does anyone else have this issue? Is this a design change for 2015.
It is not a 2015 thing, it is a larger receiver thing.
I had to upgrade my 2005 F350 receiver to get more TW in WD mode. In 2008 I added the Reese Tow Beast receiver. Then the issue came with the hooks... The "then" smaller hooks on the chains would not fit in the receiver as the receiver was too thick for the safety clip on the chain to latch. I was not going to not use the safety clip. So I changed hooks.
See if this will work for you.
The fix. I bought bigger hooks, 3/8" in place of 5/16" and I have to click the hook on the side then swing it around to the towing position.
Upgraded hook
Then click in from the side
Then rotate to the towing position
A few years ago I bought a 10,000# tilt bed trailer. It came with the same big 3/8" hooks. In this case I already had the side method.
With the onset of higher towing ratings, larger hitch equipment will follow. In my case, the jump to a 2 1/2" receiver pushed me to the larger equipment.
Hope this helps
