Schwintek Slide System....???

I am beginning to notice that Schwintek system is being dropped this year on some Solaire travel trailers by Palomino. Last year they were all Schwintek Systems. Has anyone else run a cross this and knows why? All slide systems have their share of pros and cons. Is the conventional slide system cheaper then the Schwintek or does it have certain advantages over the Schwintek?

My Palomino Schwintek system failed me on the first trip. One of the motors had the wires broken. We moved it in and out 3 times at home prior to the trip. It has been at CW for repairs. They have ordered parts including a weather seal that was not installed when we bought the TT. I am disappointed. It has been at the repair facility for 2 weeks. How long does it take parts to come in.

This sounds like a installation issue, shoddy workmanship is the problem. If installed correctly there would be no chance of a wire breaking. Your issue should be will Palamino not Schwintek. As far as time it can a be anywhere from a couple days to a couple weeks or even longer if the parts aren't readily available.

We did have an issue where the tracks of the Schwintek were "eating away" at the inside seals. Dealer had to reinstall seals and claims they were installed improperly at the factory. Anyone else have issues like that?

Mine had been great and it's a super slide that goes out 42 inches and holds our couch and dinette.

We have Schwintech on both living room slides and have had no issues even when I caught and rearranged the door on our entertainment center. Slower than our hydraulic slides but seem to work as designed.

Schwinteck is designed to be easy to install with limited training, reliable and seems to be limited to smaller slideouts for the bedroom/bunkhouse/sofa but also be maintenance free.

Cable units are cheaper but needs more assembly on the production line which takes time, also needs pre-delivery adjustment as well as future cable/pully/motor maintanance.

The older slideout rack and pinion gear driven slideouts are tried and true.

I have no issues with ours either. How large is your slide(s) that the Schwintek is pushing in and out?

Hmmmm. My cable slide is coming up on eighteen years. It could be they are learning something, or it could be cheaper. Just saying.:h
