Screw backing out under rubber roof

Has anybody had one of the screws under their rubber roof back out before? What is the fix? Was doing the roof cleaning and sealing in my little over one year old Rockwood Ultralight and noticed a screw pushing up on the rubber roof along the edge.
  • Maybe it's a staple. I'd be surprised if TT manufacturers took the time and expense of doing screws on the roof decking.

I have a staple popping up on the roof of my recently purchased TT - it left the dealer like that.
My toy hauler was the same, and I had the dealer fix it under warranty - they peeled back the roof
  • Cut a small slit, remove the screw and fill the screw hole with epoxy then reinstall the screw. caulk the slit with a liberal amount of Dicor and your done.
  • x2 therink
or cut a slit, screw it down, Dicor
look how many screws in roof now. Dicor, eternabond
  • I have screw head in the center of my roof that began rearing it's ugly head last year, but not penetrating the membrane. After some thought, I placed a square of Eternabond over it. If it continues to bother me, I will likely slice a small x through the membrane, screw it back in or replace it and then place another Eternabond patch over it.

Yeah I'm going to talk to them tomorrow. Just so difficult to get it in to them. They are difficult to deal with even though they are nice people. There are enough good mobile repair people that if it came to it needing repair and not being covered under warranty I could have it repaired at my house.

Maybe talk with dealer and maybe send a pic e-mail and see what they will or won't do. No use dragging RV to dealer and it sits there waiting for manufacture to give OK to fix or not. Or maybe manufacture would give you credit and you pay mobile fix it guy. Probably in long run, be less than driving back and forth.

For repair on mine, when screw head finally pokes though is to remove it and squirt little caulk in hole and screw it back in, then little caulking over screw hole.

  • (My thoughts)...I have the same going on. I left mine alone being it hasn't pierced the roof membrane yet. Fast forward 2 years and situation is the same. I keep an eye on it.

I wonder if the roof is keeping just enough tension on the screw that it hasn't come up anymore?

I wonder if your dealer could help under warranty?
