These are the states that have signed up to ban the sale of new cars starting in 2035.

All of the planned bans are in coastal states: In addition to California and Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon and Washington have made the commitment to stop allowing sales of new gas-powered vehicles after 2035.

See, just like I said, you're informed.

BTW Fish, did you know someone recorded you with your new Kalifornia neighbors? Check it out!!! It's all over the internet.

BTW check out where those U-hauls are going. Texas name going to be changed to Kalifornia Light.

That's a good video... One attribute I won't cover, but I'm sure you noticed as well. :E

grit,
if you want to complain about the car tab initative put lisence tabs at $35, they already are. Mr Eyman as he has muktiple times keeps putting this initative on the ballet. Issue is, in Wa st constitution, an initative can only effect one law.
his one initative tries to remove sound transit taxes, at least one, if not 3-4 tax laws, tonnage fees, another law. Local coynty and city license tax laws.....
you're a smart dude, i know this, opposite pokitics as me, but, do you really think what he wrote is not going to get repealed by these other jurisdictions? of course it will. As it should.
the other recent initative that the NRA said they would appeal, the gun control one. That too was a very appealable initative. it also effected more than one state law. Did anyone apeal it? nope!
i voted against both. As they were were uncobstitunal, illegal per our states laws.
Complain if you want to about both. niether shoukd be on the books.

My brother retired last year from one of the biggest coal companies in the US. Their coal was and will be all going to China as fast as they can mine it. At the time of his retirement they still had 20 years left on a contract to supply electric power plants there. Years ago our family was in the strip mining business and every pound of it went to Japan. They use our energy to produce products they sell to us, like wind mills and solar panels. We elect them and we then pay the price. ICEs will go this century as horses went in the last. I don't like it, but that is the way it is. America is only a small part of this earth and as long as India, China, and many others continue to burn coal the air will never clean up.

not sure where 3000 new coal plants number came from but I suspect (a) someone slipped a digit or mare likely 2 and (b) NG, solar or wind with battery or dam reservoirs, wind, etc. is more than capable of negating the need for most any coal plant.

bury your head in the sand if you want, but it's going to happen, will it be by 2035? I'll say no, but we will be at a point of the majority if not vast majority of at least passenger and LT vehicles being all electric and IMHO virtually NO vehicle that is not at least a hybrid if not plug in hybrid.

We already have a fleet of city buses that are all electric, doing well and much nicer to be behind than the older diesel buses.

US only has about 500 coal fired power plants and those are slowly being shut down.

That just goes to prove how big of a SUCKER the US is. While we phase out coal, the rest of the world uses more and more. Look in the mirror, see that word stamped on your forehead? And donโ€™t forget to keep putting them same people back in power.

If you have ever visited China you would probably be anti coal. Took a business trip there years ago with three co workers. Air was thick enough to cut. Took a train from Hong Kong to Guanghou passing some kind of coal plants. For probably a mile diameter around them the ground was black with coal dust. We all had respiratory issues for 3-4 weeks after our return. Our companyโ€™s business was in controls for power plants and I visited a lot of them. Retired now. US plants are much cleaner but still not a place you would likely choose to live near.

Nothing: I was talking about this:

There is a reason there are no large U-Hauls in Kalifornia....I bet I can find one in Tx!!

For my RV friends that live outside of Kalfornia I realize you don't have any idea what laws have been passed in this state.

For those of you that say "that will never happen" or "good luck with that" bla. bla. bla.......lets do a very short and simple test.

Question: Can you register any diesel 2010 and older truck weighing 14,000lbs and over in Kalifornia? Please answer yes or no before opening the link below to get your answer.

Here is your answer. Did you get it correct?

This is why some of my neighbors is from California.

I had to rent a U-haul the other day to move a new couch I bought. No big ones to be had. Was told they are out of state and having a hard time getting drivers to get them back in state.

In any event, people don't think this can happen. I'm telling you it can with just a stroke of a pen. I haven't talked to anybody in Air Quality in a long time but last time I did the guy I talked to said CARB was trying to outlaw my 2006 John Deere tractor. I don't know about the rest of you but a 2006 tractor with 325 hours on it is brand new to me.

Kalifornia already outlawed commercial tractors below a certain year in the contracting sector. With a stroke of a pen Kalifornia outlawed construction euqipment. Small farmers are next. Or so I was told by an ARB employee.

Oh BTW, I was out of power a few weeks ago. Sure glad I had my genset for water and electricity. Too bad in 2028 people won't be able to buy a new gasoline genset in Kalifornia. link to genset ban.

So if anybody thinks it's not going to happen, you are mistaken. It's already happening in some states like mine. Is yours next? I think so. All it takes is a stroke of a pen.

So Fish, you are an informed person. You're up on a lot of stuff. Did the get the answer correct? What about the rest of you commenters from other states? Did you get it correct?

I bet most of you didn't know the laws that Kalifornia has implemented now did you? Coming to a state near you........:B

One small advantage, I am saving a few bucks here in WA since itโ€™s been publicized that vehicle registration is on the honor system. (Which is ironic since the popular vote for car tab fees got vetoed a couple years agoโ€ฆ.one of those little known โ€œfactsโ€ like Turtle is posting.

Neighbor/buddy, just became the chief of police for one of our largest suburbs in the SeaTac area. Some of his storiesโ€ฆ.wow!

So it WA keeps their weird regs and limitations unenforceable, just like a lot of real crime that hurts people and property, maybe weโ€™ll luck out and be able to keep our tractors, lawn mowers and old cars!

^ Iโ€™m well aware. And the proponents of this overreach (obvious who they are on this forum, problem is there are approximately 69billion more sheeple just like them out there running in the โ€œwildsโ€ of the urban shiteholes in this country) also understand what is happening. They just arenโ€™t smart enough or choose not to be, and will ultimately likely be the force that pushes all this c rap through in places besides Kalifyukya.

Whatโ€™s really hard to believe is after the greatest social experiment of any of our lives is coming to a close (Covid) that there are still so many sheep who refuse to jump the fence!

This ainโ€™t like the โ€œold daysโ€ (well Cali is, but it started with honorable intentions, with good results actually). The social and governmental issues have increased 10 fold. Just in the last 3 years!
