I know with GM trucks, long beds typically have 34 gallon fuel tanks and short beds are 26. The extra capacity helps with not having to stop as frequently.
The NNBS GM trucks- 2500 and 3500- all carry 36 gallons, short bed or long.
GM doesn't make a short bed in a 2500 or 3500. They make a standard bed, 6.5' or a long bed 8'.
No kidding???
Semantics. Kind of like when you order a soft drink- "what size, we have medium or large". (What happened to small or large?)
I am (plus many others here) old enough to think that a short bed is 6.5' and a long bed is 8'. No matter what the automakers come up with.
Truck camper manufacturers just know 6.5'=sb 8'=lb
The marketing departments tell the engineers to build 5.5' micro beds so the dealers can sell 1/2 ton
sort-of pickups to suburban macho-guys and soccer moms.
