Silverado 3500 DRW tire

I am looking to replace my stock Michelin 235/80/17 a/t Ltx tires. I want something that can be used on the beach with heavy camper also any recommendations.
  • Beach driving, stick with similar tread. The less void space the better.
  • I lived on Long Island as a kid, I don’t remember exactly how the sand is for driving.
But, I did recently drive my 4x4 dually on the beach onbthe Oregon Coast and was OK with Michelin Defender LTX tires.

How many miles did you get from your Michelins? I am in the same boat looking for new tires for my f350 DRW and I air down for sand as well. Would love to find one that only goes to 65psi like the Nittos that I have on my f250. Makes life easier at the air pump station.

I got 65,000 miles on my stock Michelin 235/80/17 a/t LTX tires. I just replaced them with 5 new identical ones and used the spare for the 6th tire. I saved the best used tire for my spare.

  • I've driven my dually on the Texas beaches with stock tires without incident. I think they were Bridgestone Duelers (was many years ago).

Fwiw, any stock(ish) size tire you find for a dually (skinny) will be an 80psi max tire or it likely won’t have load capacity commensurate with the capacity of a truck that big.
That said, you can put whatever pressure you wish that suits your needs and loads in an 80psi tire.
  • You can run spacers and put fatter tires on.
It might get real tight backing between your front camper jacks, and you may need to modify your swing-outs. But it can be done.
