Slide is slightly scrapping the vinyl floor.

Brand new Travel trailer one slide, I have the unit parked on our property and the lot is not completely level I have noticed a slight scratches on one side of the vinyl flooring. Could this be because it's not level or the slide may need to be adjusted? the scratches wipe off easy, I'm leaving on a trip this coming Friday for a week and I don't want to drop it off at the dealer for fear of not getting it back in time for my trip.

Any help is appreciated...

It's a brand new trailer, take it back to the dealer. I know that's a pain but its worth it. I had the same situation and accepted the small barely noticible scratch at delivery last summer but when I took it camping that scratch became a hole and eventually as I used it more and more it ripped a huge section of the flooring up. This is after the dealer said they fixed it. Took pictures and scheduled a time over the winter to bring it in. They ended up fixing the slide and replacing my entire floor. I am supper picky about every little thing within that first year and let the dealer repair it.
    Sounds good kfp, thank you.

Jerry is right on track, open the slide, get under it and run your hand under it to feel for rough spots or debris. Address any issues you find. A call to the dealer would be good as well, but it could be something simple that you can fix quick.

    Will do..
  • Your welcome...you just never know, but with a new trailer, it can often be some thing simple.

Anything that will hold it up should work for you. A little dab of PowerGrab comes to mind. This stuff holds quickly, and is pretty strong. Some velcro type products are stronger than others, and may work for you. Without seeing, it is hard for me to say, just where the fastener is needed.

While the trailer should be level when using the slide, that may not be your problem. There might be a staple, fastener, or just a piece of build material, that is catching under the slide floor, scratching the vinyl. If the slide itself was scraping the vinyl, the scratches wouldn't just wipe off easily.

If not level, corner jacks down, you may be twisting the frame just enough to make the slide contact the floor. Your dealer can adjust it if need be, when you return. If the slide is sealing well, when in, or out, so no water intrusion, using it for the week, should not be a problem.

If your dealer is close, I'd give them a call, explain your upcoming trip time. They may just get you in while you wait. It would not take long for an experienced tech to make a slight adjustment to the slide, if that is needed.

Found it Jerry! It is a piece of plastic that it was supposed to be stapled to the bottom of the slide from the factory. however I don't have a staple gun that fits under there, I was wondering if I can place a piece of soft Velcro there? Thank you very much!!
