Slide Topper

Our new slide topper creates puddles and sags with any precipitation. I don’t remember this happening with our TC topper. Is this normal? Or is there an adjustment in spring tension that needs to occur?

Appreciate the feedback.
  • My main slide topper collects water, I just bring it in a little at a time. retract until you hear the waterfall, stop and wait until it gets quiet, repeat. It usually takes 3 times and it is clear.
  • My main slide room topper has a center support roller (actually a double roller, side by side so the fabric tube sits inside them) and it does not bow. Mine is a 13' slide. Actually it doesn't seem to collect water either. It stays pretty tight. It's a 36" deep slide.

Likely its the same size springs for a much larger topper. Ours does it a bit. Generally not an issue unless you are standing next to the slide when it's going in.

Guessing 10 - 15’. It really puddles--you notice it because you can see the roller with a distinct bow in it from the tension of the stretched fabric.

Also how wide? Ours is quite deep (approx 42")

But if it's bending the roller, that doesn't sound right. I've never seen any noticable bend in the roller.
  • Both of our long ones collect rain. Once the rain is over I just raise the rear stabizers and raise the front of the fiver to shed off the water. What's fun is the first time you do this tell both of your kids to stand at the end of the slides to watch them and hello here comes a bunch of water. Boy does that make them mad, we laugh about it now though.
  • As you can see, yes, this is "normal". We have three slides all with toppers and only the largest/longest accumulates water.

All 3 of ours always sag when it rains, we just retract slowly until all water is off, and as mentioned above, yes been drenched a couple of times while wife is putting in the bedroom slide and I am in the side compartment organizing things...:)
  • My topper pools but the fabric just rests on top of the roof until either the wind blows off the water or I bring the slide in. I would be concerned if the roller is bowed though.
