Solar Firm Claims It Has An Electric 700-mile SUV

I'm not sure this has been posted yet. I couldn't find it in the search.

"The performance model will have a 200-kWh battery pack that could power the vehicle for 700-plus miles on a single charge. That'd be massively impressive, especially considering the vehicle's 7,700-pound weight. Triton says the base model will have a towing capacity of 15,400 pounds, while the performance model would bring that up to 26,000 pounds."

As if no automaker ever exaggerated efficiency, mileage and range :R
This is not just an EV thing.

Although I believe Tesla does game the vehicle efficiency toward maximum EPA range so you must drive like the EPA tests to achieve that range. Most "real world" tests will be far different. Not the car's fault as much as the EPA test does not reflect the expected driving habits.

As for the new 700-mile SUV the shortfall will be far greater. Most of these proclamations are based on the European test that is even more optimistic than the EPA.

Can’t speak to performance models or models with non standard rims but advertised 518 km range for the wife’s model 3 is not hard to achieve. She is running the 18’s with Aero rims though which apparently add about 10 percent range over the 19’s or 20’s on the performance models.

There seems to be some conflicting info out there. A lot depends on driving style and where you drive as well. Straight highway at 120 -130 km I would estimate we are 10 percent off the EPA numbers...ish.

What is it now about 700$

Yo, fan boi. If you didn't know, the EPA is the one that does the tests and said Tesla is a (now I'm paraphrasing here) lying bunch of Richards.

If you bothered to look at the test, Tesla was the ONLY car manufacture that overestimated their range.........by a BUNCH! All of the other car manufactures underestimated their cars range......sometimes by quite a bit.

BTW where are all of those ventilators that lying Tusk promised Ca???

Web site doesnt prove the vehicle is real or will ever be built.

Anyone can use computer to make fancy pictures and claim whatever stats they want and ask you for money

Of course, but it is a place to start any research. Just look up the street view of the facility and you will see it is a suite in complex, hardly capable of producing much.

😉

But the 7700lb weight will make it a great Prius crusher.

Wasn't it Solyndra the shovel ready that wasn't ready. I remember who wanted that to happen. chevman

Thanks, I Googled it and didn't find the website because it was several pages down.

No dog in the fight, I just posted it out of general interest and to see what the "experts" have to say.

It’s hard to say Chris. No expert but short of some kind of huge jump in motor efficiency it doesn’t look feasible to me. Maybe they discovered the magic sauce. :). Ojala que sí. :).
