Watching this tread with interest. I have flexible solar panels that I am mounting to aluminum frames, hinged to make a "suitcase". Like you I want to be able to park in the shade and put them in the sun. We camp in the woods and there is much more shade than sun. I can see securing them to a tree at times to prevent their easily walking away while I am not in camp, but I would also be interested in other ideas. Those panels themselves weigh only 3 lbs so the whole suitcase is less than 10lbs. 44"X22" for a 200w system.
Flex panels would be the way to go if you want to move them around. I have a 100W panel on my roof and a 120W solar in a bag. the 120W folding panel is close to 25 pounds. I have seen a flex panel mounted on the plastic panel signs are made out of. Very light and easy to move around. If I did not have the solar in a bag I would have build one.
