Sunset Trail Reserve 29SS vs. Palomino Solaire 292QBSK

Hi all!

We have narrowed down our TT choices to either the 2014 Sunset Trail Reserve 29SS or the 2014 Solaire 292QBSK. The layouts are almost identical, but the ST has more upgrades (fireplace, outdoor kitchen, 8cu.ft. fridge, 15K AC), but costs a bit more and weighs about 700 more. If any of you has input or experience (pros/cons) on these particular TTs, we would love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks!
  • We really enjoy our Sunset Trail & picked it for the larger bunks, garbage can cabinet, and extra deep slide out. Other nice things are the fireplace (good for taking care of a morning chill), leatherette upholstery, electric awning, and the nice brown exterior. We had a problem with a cracked skylight from the factory, but the dealer fixed that under warranty.
  • The Sunset Trail Reserve will have more fluff. How does the chassis compare? Only you can decide what works for you.
  • Don't know anything about Solaire but we love our Sunset and would buy another.
  • Last year we looked at The Sunset Trail, Cougar X Lite and the Solaire Eclipse. We went with the Solaire because of a few reasons:

    -lower weight overall
    -six sided vacuum bonded construction
-more aero dynamic fiberglass front cap with Line X Rock Guard for better gas mileage.
    -Serta "Trump" Mattress
    -40" LED TV (Toshiba)
-second year warranty available for $150.00

We had a great 2013 season in our Solaire and are looking forward to another one as soon as the snow melts!

    Good Luck with your choice!

    Lou
  • I think it was a Solaire we looked at that didn't have the kitchen hood fan vented to the outside. A deal breaker right there.
  • The sunset trail Reserve will have 4400 # axles and d rated tires in 2014 models ,my 2013 has them now after they changed them for me.
Also, the shower skylights are almost all cracked as the "installers" at the factory don't realize that they have to use a lower torque on those screws when they go into plastic and not metal. They all need extra calk or replacing .Most companies are the same here.
does your sunset trail have the tan front or the dk brown(that may need repainting caused by premature fading) ?
  • The 2 choices have so many similarities and both have advantages over the other. Can't go wrong either way, but the couple of minutes I took to look at photos has me going with the Sunset Trail. Good luck on your final choice, either rig will provide many great camping experiences.
  • We owned a Sunset Trail and it was a wonderful TT. No problems at all with that trailer. Now its just me and the wife and we went a different route, but would buy another Sunset Trail.
