tankless water heater

Hi Folks! I read some of the posts on tankless water heaters to replace the 6 gal. propane. It seems some feel they are a little controversial right now, but it has been a little while since the last post. I have a leak in my 6 gal. tank. It has been welded once already so I'm ready to change it out. Does anyone have comments on replacing it with the tankless. It may be my best choice, but I'd like to hear more about the pros and cons.--------Also any suggestions on Model or type.--------Thanks, Chanacres

  • Do a search on the Girard and I think you will find out that most people have had a problem with them. Do not know about the Atwood. Forest River and Winnebago have been using the Girard, and on the owners websites you can also find concerns about Girard.
  • Make sure you check out the heat rise the tankless water heaters will do.

I say this because GulfStream was putting tankless water heaters(warmers) on their Vista Cruiser Class B RV's (built on the Sprinter chassis). Those tankless water Heaters would only raise the temperature up 30 degrees. So if the water was 50 degrees in the fresh water tank, then the warmest the water after going through the tankless water heater would be 80 degrees.

These newer better tankless water heaters are probably much better, and do a much better job heating water.
