TC Framing Question

I think I know the answer but throwing it out there to those who have seen a TC side opened up. I am assuming that the top of the side wall has at least a 2x3 top plate where the roof joins the side wall. I might be fabing some brackets that will screw down right there and want to put some deep screws in to anchor.
  • Take a look at Pjay9's rebuild , somewhere around page 10
  • Some truck campers are only 1x2 stock. At least the older ones I have taken apart. They were beefier when they went back together.Check a spot in a hatch or somewhere to see how thick the camper wall is.If its 1 1/2 inch thick you most likely have 2x2 stock. The roof usually sits on top of the wall.Hope this helps.
  • I've been repairing my camper and it still amaze me how cheaply those expensive toys are build.
My camper has aluminium frame, but only on the big edges. No aluminium on the floor.
Had to repair the overhang sides.
3/4" x1" frame (make it 3 pieces) with some siding and generator mount screw to it.
I am adding stainless steel plates whenever I open the joint.
They might add 20 lb of weight to the camper, but at least I know I will not leave generator on the highway in the middle of nowhere.
