Tekonsha - Internal Error - No brakes

I just went to my truck today and saw my Tekonsha Prodigy 3 displaying a warning message that says "Internal Error - No brakes" I just checked the internet and it does not answer my question. Has anyone seen this before? Yesterday it was fine. It rain like crazy over night and now I see this. Could something got wet? Any Idea before I disconnect it to reset it and cross my fingers. Last thing I want is this to go out when I am on the road towing the camper.
  • They have great customer service, a quick call to vendor and you'll have best answer.
  • take it to any dealer, they have a lifetime warranty. I had my p2 for over 10 years and went to a trailer supply store expecting to buy a new one when mine wasn't working and the guy looked at it, went inside and came out with a new one in the box, plugged it in and sent me on my way...free of charge...I didn't even buy it there originally!
  • And you could have a short in the wiring that is why the message no brakes. Dry it out and make sure you do not have any worn sires that the water could be closing the circuit between and causing a short.
  • I just remove it, so I can get the product and serial numbers to call them. They kept putting me on hold for technical support and I waited a long time. I tried call theming several times with same results. I gave up and put the brake controller back in the truck. Its fine now and it is not displaying any error message. I guess the rain may had short it out. I will look at it this weekend to see where this could be happening.
  • I have had to do a complte reset before which meant unpluging it from the truck. That fixed the issue. The other problem I've encountered it the 4 pin trailer connection under the bumper got corroded (from complete lack of use) and caused a short to display on the controler.
  • I'm getting the same error message. Sometimes unplugging it will help, sometimes not. Seems to be getting worse. Did yours keep working or did you end up replacing it?
  • If you have one of these products, make sure you keep track of the original sales receipt. Without that, there is no warranty whatsoever!

You re-awakened a 5 year old thread. The OP may not be around anymore.
