Ok, so browsing through the thread about the 2011 Ford diesel left me in shock. Seems like there were many issues with the early builds of that engine. I know the Cummins and Duramax of that generation had their own issues (mostly emissions related?).

How are the newest gen Ford 6.7L diesels holding up (2015+)?
Are their similar stories for the Cummins and Duramax in the latest gen (2014+)? I know the Cummins has been 370hp/800tq for a while (in the 2500), have they worked out the kinks in that one? Are failures common? I only know one guy with a 2014 Ram 6.7L Cummins SRW 3500. He has had plenty of recalls and was losing coolant a while back, but I think that was the famous water pump issue. He has had no serious issues. His is a 370hp/800tq version with a 68RFE auto. But that's a sample of 1 which is pretty meaningless.

I went with a 6.4L Hemi last time I was shopping as it suited my needs better and frankly, I was scared away from diesels (all of them). At that time, my research told me they weren't worth the gamble. What I mean by that is their superior towing performance wasn't worth it to me when they could cost me tens of thousands to repair if they failed, and they were all (my opinion) having reliability issues in the 2011 to 2013 time period. I thought they were mostly pesky ones to do with emissions, but I'm just not into check engine lights on new trucks.

Are the diesels getting better? Should I put them back on my shopping list for my next new truck?

I'll likely be towing under 10k GVW, and it'll likely be a TT around 30'. I do want to log some miles though, and that will include some long distance touring (cross Country type).

I had on of those I one time too.
But then I figured out what diesel towing performance was all about and never looked back

Then why even make a post about it when the topic is for those who have a '15 and up diesel? :h

Generally when I don't have or don't even like what the topic is about then I don't post unless I was purposely trying to be vindictive and want to tell everyone I don't like it which is pointless IMO.

Cheap in my book compared to a cup of coffee at 4-5$.

Also let's not forget that around 25% of those prices are TAX.

For what it's worth, I was one of those unlucky few who had the Fuel Pump self-destruct.

I was lucky in that mine was fully covered by warranty. My fuel pump blew up at about 18,000 km.

I have not had one single issue since.

Had a 2014 Ram 2500 CTD. Bought it used in 2016. Had 17K miles when purchased. Used it for 2.5 years, and put 36K miles on it. Only issue I had was water pump failure on road while towing. All covered by warranty, and road side assistance.

Purchased the truck used for $37,000 plus tax. Sold it about two weeks ago to a local dealership for $35,500. $1500 (plus my tax that I paid) for two and a half years usage, not bad in my book.

Bought a brand new 2017 Ram 3500 CTD at a South Carolina dealership for $47,500 plus tax. Stickered for $62,500(ish), so it was brand new and 15K off. Only 86 miles when I got it. That's the only reason I sold the 2500, because I found a great deal on the 3500. Yes, two model years old, but it was the absolute cheapest brand new 3500 I could find anywhere in the Southeast/East. And it's a Bighorn package, not the Tradesman. It will hopefully be my last truck I purchase in my lifetime.

I'm at 23,000 on my 2018 F-350 6.7L. No horror stories so far. Truck doesn't get as good of mileage as I had hoped but it is a true powerhouse. with our 10,000+ 37' travel trailer behind it, set the cruise at 70mph and go.

I have been leery on new diesels for quite some time, but it seem like they have gotten a handle on the new emissions. Still hesitant about my fuel system, but it did get redesigned in 2017. Still I drain a couple of quarts of fuel from my fuel water separator once a month and change fuel filters every 15,000 miles and hoping for the best. I know Ford is still using the CP4 fuel pump.

2017 Ram 2500 6.7 with 17,000 miles and no issues. Been a great truck, loved pulling my 10k trailer 2300 miles with it this summer.
