Today started the "make it ours" portion of our new to us 1990 S&S 11 SCB. I started by replacing cheap plastic Therford toilet that was in the wetbath with an oval lid porcelain Therford toilet. What a pain that was, not only was it gross under the old unit, but the convertion of the water supply line was a pain to.

Next I tore all the drapes out, along with all the upolstery. Then I vacumed every nook and cranny out, removed all the drawers and vacumed in there too.

The short list of parts so far is;
NEW BATTERY
CO/PROPANE ALARM
REBUILD KITS FOR JACKS
MATERIAL FOR DRAPES
SHOWER CURTAIN
WALL MOUNT BRACKET FOR FLAT SCREEN
NEW RADIO AND SPEAKERS
LOTSA CAULK AND SILICONE

Pics to follow worked till dark.

Getting Red ready for the 10 dayer coming up. Had to make a new guide pole for the S&S, somehow one got broken. Complete fluid check and serviced the air cleaner. I even got a wild hair and polished the headlights....she's a good old truck.

Did some mods to the stableloads to better center them on the spring, and reinstalled them on Red. I think I'm going to change the rear springs this year, after all they are 28 years old. While doing research on replacements it looks like my 4+1's that are stock are rated at 2,810lbs. I'm going to replace them with 6+1's that are rated at 3,100lbs, that should be a better rate since I'm always up at 10K loaded.

Still working on Red...took the drivers door apart and fixed the issues. The speaker grill was falling out, all the panel clips were broken or missing, the moisture barrier was gone, and it rattled.

That was the easy door, will fix the passenger door next week. Same stuff but I need to replace the power window motor and the power lock actuator also. Have the parts so it will just be time.

Next on the list is changing out the old interior lights to new modern LED units. Found a sale of a pack of 5 single light fixtures for $22.00. This won't replace all of the lights but it's a start.

Haven't done much to the TC but I did get around to reinstalling the HAM radio in Red. New front tires next week too, the Firestones have timed out and ride like a rock.

We went to the local mountains for the weekend visiting friends. Camped in the driveway and did a systems shakes down.

1.) After a good cleaning the W/H is now working as it should and did great over the weekend.

2.) The cold water on the kitchen sink faucet has a low flow issue. To fix it I have to pull the W/H out...bummer. The rest of the system works fine, might have to live with it for awhile.

That's all I got done over the weekend while visiting. Red ran flawlessly and got 10.7 mpg for the trip, even passed some people going up the mountain.

From time to time I take a look at what you guys are doing with S&S. There are now at least 4 restoration threads on this list. I'm thinking that it might be interesting if we had a mid-country meet up of vintage truck campers. I've mentioned this on my Avion thread, but I got very little response. Ditto with the Amerigo folks. Usually a good idea doesn't work till the right time - so I'm not concerned. But keep it in mind.

Sorry to revive an older thread, but does anyone know what happened to the OP's pics in this thread?? Most seem to be AWOL (or MIA, I guess).

Were they all removed by an admin due to size?

Would love to see them...thanks.

First; thrilled that you will keep the S&S. This post is a great help for someone like me who knows so little about repairing an older TC. Looking now for the roof redo. How is it going?
