Rather than being left sitting in the middle of the desert or out in the woods someplace with my family I just replaced them at home and in my garage at the 7 year point.
This is true for most. For me, my truck is a dedicated tow vehicle. If I'm towing the boat, I have 4 batteries for back-up if needed. If I have the camper, I have 5 batteries because the boat is always behind it. My vintage Cummins will start on one battery. Hopefully both batteries won't blow at the same time. If they do, I'll have to carry a battery all the way from the boat hooked to it.
