Time for tires for the TV

Ram 2500 4WD. Time for new tires. 285 60R 20 Load Range E current tires.

Local shop (Tires Plus) recommended Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo 2. They offered 275/65R20 as a replacement (didn't have 285 60's). Size difference is ~1/2 inch in height.

Reviews on Bridgestones are mixed. They are on sale right now.

Friend has Toyo Open Country II's, which he likes. Says the Nitto Terra Grappler II is similar/same but cheaper. Nitto Terra Grappler II is a more aggressive tread, roughly same price as the Bridgestones. Reviews on these mixed as well.

Would like some recommendations. I'd like a relatively smooth/low road noise tire. Mildly aggressive tread is sufficient. Even though I have a diesel, road noise from tires drives me crazy, so I'd like some smooth/quiet tires if that's possible in LT's.

Anyone have insight into the Bridgestones? Tires Plus says 30 day money back guarantee, so if they are too noisy I can bring them back.

I know a Diesel 4wd, LT tire configured truck is not your mom's Camry, but I enjoy smooth riding as much as possible.

Thoughts???

Thanks

Mike

I recently installed Nitto Ridge Grapplers and they are great so far. With less than a 1000 miles on them I can't comment on wear yet, but ride, looks, and noise are terrific!!!
I love the aggressive sidewall look but AT tread pattern. Really set the look of my truck off without any compromising!

Cooper has that size in their AT3. I'd check those out. I'm on my second set, first set was almost 80k miles.

Yeah, Im not liking the stock Firestones at all either.

Thanks for the inputs guys. Im leaning towards the Nitto's. Hadn't thought about Michelin's.. Thought I had read where folks weren't too happy with Michelin LT tires.

Good one Dennis. Im thinking about adding TPMS to my TV as well (grin).

I've had good luck with Toyo and Michelin on my HD trucks. Hated the stock Firestone.

not many tires in that particular size, personally I would opt for the new Michelin Defender M/S in the factory 285/60R20 size, I read nothing but positive remarks on them.

Look at Cooper AT's. I have them on my Ford...20" size and like them.

I ran the revo2. Found it wore quickly towing. Also threw pea gravel. Overall I like the duravis m700 hd much better. Quiet with longer wear and good in snow and rain.

No insight on the Bridgestones but I do on the other 2 you mention.

I had the Terra Grapplers on my Tundra. Great tire. Nice aggressive look but super smooth and quiet on the road. Had them on the truck for bout 30k before I traded it with no noticeable wear. Not sure what the tread life is like on an HD truck.

I recently put Toyo Open Country ATs on my new Ram 2500. I replaced the crappy stock tire and upsized to 295/65r20 (35"). Very little difference in road noise over stock which surprised me since they are much more aggressive. Lost less than 1mpg which is better than expected given the deeper tread and heavier weight. Time will tell on tread wear but they are consistently rated well for that too. I spent a lot of time researching tires and these always came out with good reviews and recommends. I have 8k on them so far and am very happy with them.
