tires

tis the season and we're off to seatlle and will be gone for a month and a half. we have a recently leased a f150 v8 to tow my 24' tt. but my wife points out the michellen tires have a very dark brown color that she says other trucks don't have, and claims something's wrong. the tires keep pressure fine and the weight of the trailer is adequate for the truck. what would cause this?
thanks
  • thanks everyone -we can relax with the tire issue. real excited about going up to the pacific northwest - was there back in the 70's - i'm sure a lot has changed, except maybe the natural beauty
    safe rving!
  • good to know,

I sure wish the last set of Michelin tires I bought has been soaked in the stuff, antiozonante.

{It is called blooming. It is caused by the antiozonante that is in the tires to prevent cracking etc. I would not worry about it. You can probaly wash it off but it may come back.)

Those suckers started the old Michelin sidewall cracking number and the Michelin tire dealer told me he would not feel safe pulling my trailer during the hot summer time with those tires.
    about half tread left.

but they sure drove good on a heavy old stiff chevy 3/4 ton truck.

so I got more tires, not Michelin.

  • The dark brown color is the UV protectant that Michelin uses, leaching out. Nothing to worry about. Very common on large XZA3 truck tires.
