Toilet blade replacement

I've searched this but no threads,,so how difficult is it to replace the blade and seal on a thetford aquamagic IV? thanks
  • I load one end with a plastic fork and see no reason to have fine china for the other end…:B
  • Buy a new porcelain toilet they really aren't expensive. Well worth the money.
    Happy trails,

To be honest I have had more trouble with the ball type…
my blade type has worked well for 10+ years of full time use so far…

the blade is severely scratched. We bought used and the top surface of the blade looks as if someone used a knife to pry it open. It doesn't hold water either, so I thought I would replace blade and seal at the same time.

    Your one right track IMO
  • I changed the blade and seal a number of years ago. you should get the
Thetford's exploded view of the toilet and parts. The hard part is to remove the top part. It is set in a groove with a butyl seal material that you have to pry apart.
After this comes apart, 3 springs will fall out. To figure out where they come from you need the exploded view. Each is a different size. One is for the blade seal, the other two fit on top and bottom of the actuator ass'y.
It is not difficult, just time consuming.
    Hope this helps.

  • I did my Sealand and it wasn't too hard. More difficult to get the right parts than do the job. Hardest part was knowing when the lower flange clamp was tight enough. Not a hard job, just not very pleasant.
