Toilet choices, plastic vs. porcelain.

i'm in the process of selling my old trailer and ordering a new one. Our old plastic toilet has never let me down. I'm also trying to save on weight and I figure there is about a 40lb. weight penalty in owning a trailer with the porcelain toilet. I would be buying a 6500 lb. trailer pulling it with a half ton Dodge Ram, 5.7 Hemi so every pound counts. But I do love the look of the porcelain vs the Plastic. What do you like?

Some how, "sitting on the plastic throne" just doesn't have the same ring to it, as "sitting on the porcelain throne".

I agree with you on this. We also upgraded the 300 dometic plastic to a 310 porcelain. We just purchased a new camper and had them swap the toilets for us.

There is zero reason not to get porcelain. It’s better all around.

I have had both and the plastic yellows. I had an Agua magic in my current and it started leaking, so I bought a repair kit. That didn't work to well, if the pedal spring comes loose your done. I replaced it with the Dometic 310 and wish I had sooner, it actually flushes. The 312 is the same toilet with an oblong bowl instead of round.

I'd go with the porcelain and also get the one that is "TALLER". It's much easier on the knees when getting up and down. Don't ask me how I know.

We have both!
If the weight of a porcelain toilet is going to cause you weight issues, you already have a weight issue!!

Porcelain is way better, trust me. If weight is a concern take 2 less gallons of water and you have fixed that problem. Plastic toilets don’t compare once you have a porcelain one.
