Tongue weight question

Finally got around to getting the new rig weighed. Many thanks to RV Weighing for all their efforts! All of my numbers were within limits except.....

The dry tongue weight listed by Jayco for my unit is 1045lbs. I've added a 78lb washer/dryer combo and changed out the mattress as well as maybe a 100lbs in the front storage bay. The calculated tongue weight by RV Weighing was a whopping 1625lbs!!! This was with a full load of H2O but that tank is over and behind the axles. Both gray tanks were empty. I never travel with a full load of H2O but wanted to see worse case scenario.

One of the options was a frame mounted bike/cargo tray. Anyone have any idea how much this might lower my tongue weight if I moved the toolbox (~100lbs) to this tray? I'd have to buy the thing since I didn't think I'd need it. Any other ideas to lower tongue weight? I Had already moved most everything out of the front for the weigh in. I need to get this down to the rated 1400lbs of the Hensley. There's nothing else to remove except the mattress and washer/dryer!
  • Hmmm... I see that from the brochure, but I got 1045 from the yellow sticker on the trailer.
  • Just spoke with Hensley. The Hensley hitch weighs ~200lbs and this additional weight should be factored into the the weight on the truck receiver but not included in the rating for the Hensley. Hope I said that clear enough.... In other words, 1625lbs on the rear of the truck but 1425lbs on the Hensley. Moving the toolbox to the truck bed should bring me under 1400lbs.
  • According to Jayco's site it's listed as 1145lbs. Add 100 for gear, 1245lbs. Add 78 for WD that's 1323lbs. Add weight for battery and propane and it looks like the bare minimum is going to be over 1400lbs.

Your sig shows two different TT's.

    338RETS.

I didn't see a 2015 338RLTS on Jaycos site. Just assume you have the 338RETS.
