Torklift Glowsteps - Finally

I have been wanting to replace my steps for a long time, I had decided a year or two ago that I would go with some Glowsteps but like most things around here nobody had them or even knew what they were. Then I was going to order a year ago but the "you buy it, it is yours" policy of special orders had me nervous so I waited. This past April I once again started looking and nothing. Then today I called a newer RV dealer and asked a guy in parts (who is not a parts guy) if they had any. He was REALLY confused, asked me to hold and after a VERY long time came back and was blown away as he found a set of steps. Now according to Torklift I needed a 4 step set, this was a 5 so I thought that I would go and look at them anyways. Took the truck and drove in a sure enough they were the steps I wanted, but with an extra step. I asked him what they wanted and when he told me that they were $80 less than the 4 step (higher exchange rate today) so I took them and removed the extra step to make them the right size.

Was planning on mounting them to a angled bracket that I had made a while ago but found that the bolts would not work. So took the bracket off and secured to the camper the way the other steps were when I bought it and the way that I had the bracket attached.

Torklift does not recommend putting on a NL without a bumper but as they are attached the same way that the other steps were for years I cannot see an issue. Will keep an eye out to make sure that they are okay.

Sure is a lot different. I had been told that they were a lot nicer but that does not even come close to how nice they are. 99% straight and a lot stronger than the last set.

  • Replaced my old 4 stepper's with Torque lift Glow steps and their Basement step last year.
A great product.. Way more ridged so there is minimal flex when climbing up into the camper. We like the glowing step markers too.

You can change the setup of the steps so that the first step is even with the door way. Look at the GlowStep installation manual to see how the upper brackets on the top step are placed. Basically the top horizontal bars that connect to the u-shaped bar are replaced with that additional step you already have...

I thought of that but I think I would rather have the step there that goes a little lower, I am clumsy enough and changing this would mess me up :S

I may have a use for the extra step and material, I am just now seeing if I can buy a couple extra parts to change out my old trailer step to a new Torklift one, would be a lot more stable.

Old steps from camper to trailer saves me removing the trailer to get in and out and allows me to use the platform on the trailer as a porch for shoes, etc, then I would use the new Torklift bracket that is attached to the truck. When I am hauling the trailer all I need to do is take off the 4 steps and put on the one Torklift step that would go to the trailer.

    Here is the old one....

Will let you know if it works.

I believe it only works with the 6 inch steps.

  • I have a set too, having the extra step may come in handy if you camp on uneven land. My only complaint is the space between the threshold and the first step. My grand kids have found that huge gap.

I seem to have gotten lost somewhere in your description regarding the 5 step system. It looks to me like you have a 4 step system. Did you remove 1 step? I have the 5 step system but it hangs up on my carrier very similar to the one you have and I had to fabricate an additional wooden step at the bottom.

Yes I removed the one step to make it the right length. I can sell you a step at a good price :B :B
