Torklift Install on 98 Ram

I just installed Torklift D2100 and R3500 tie-down mounts and took photos. Here is a quick look. This is meant to supplement your directions, so some detail is left out.

Install was quite easy and I had no issues as I typically do working on the Dodge.

There are 3 contact points: 2 in the frame and one under the bed. The bed bolts may be hard to remove, so use a little penetrating oil before beginning.

Images are sized to 655 width, but are bigger, so if they do not load then re-load/refresh the page.

Front install:

Fishing tool. This comes with it all. Simply push the spring end through the frame and catch it when it comes out into the open. I used it where the fuel tank blocks the frame.
Thread the bolt, with washers already attached, into the spring. Pull gently until the bolt/spring contact the hole in the frame you are pulling through. If necessary use screwdriver or something to wiggle the bolt so it can slide through the frame hole; do not pull or tug too hard as the bolt can become dislodged.

You are a fisherman! Put the nut on it temporarily. note" make sure the nut threads onto the bolt easily before beginning as you do not want damaged threads while only having access to one end of the bolt when tightening.

here is where the bracket goes. This is the part that the bed bolts to also.

This, is actually the right side mount, the fishing tool is on the left side of my truckโ€ฆ

Shelving brace for closet, now tool to push the frame-mounted wiring away from the bolt hole so bolt no pinch it. You have to move the wiring out of the way. The wiring is on the inside of the frame and held in with plastic things that you see poking out towards the part of the frame you can see. Push those back in and out so you can move the wiring harness. Use any method you need to, but careful to not damage the wires.

just shove it in, tank is plasticโ€ฆ
Feel that the bolt, with washers, do not seem to pinch any wires as you pull the bolt tight against the frame.

bolts right in, this is left side.
Bolt and tighten the top (bed mount) first, then the frame mounts last.

this is right side

low profile, does not really hang low when not in use. Nerf bars are lower. Does not hang so low when inserts are in either.
Some people are concerned if they rock crawl the brackets might scrape. These do not seem to be an issue.

other side

other side

with insert, left.

1.5 inch insert tubes. The tie-down point on the camper (wood, fiberglass or wood and some metal) would be the weak link and most likely to break if something bad happened.

Very easy install. I suggest doing the non fishing side first, so you know what will happen when you go fishing.
The rear of mine will be bolted into the receiver hitch. Post to comeโ€ฆ
