I live in SoCal and my intentions are to travel to various areas of the West, Northwest and Southwest of the country. I'm not planning any strenuous mountain treks such as the Teton Pass between ID and WY, but I do understand I'll be faced with some degree of up and downhill traveling (I am familiar with that just going 50 miles from home over the Grapevine towards Bakersfield).
I would really appreciate heariang from anyone with real-time experience towing a TT with a V-6.
Thanks!
I am a huge advocate of occasional (3-5 short trips) towing of smaller TT's with the most common V6 SUV's. I could go on and on about how well they do, despite those on here that never have attempted it, yet swear against it.
In your case, I'm honestly a bit torn. If you can assure yourself your TT is clear of the max tow ratings and you only tow a few times a year, I think you're good.
But the longer the trip or more trips per year, you'll want something bigger.
I was just fine towing 4300lbs with a Honda Pilot (was the V6 SUV with the lowest tow rating) until we decided (not planned) to begin doing at least one very long national trip per year on top of many weekend trips. The V8 motor still revs out like the V6 did, but the bigger SUV is clearly built for more strenuous towing than the Honda was.
