Towing with the ProPride P3- not quite right- what to tweak?

We have towed our new tt with this current truck 5x now.

Once was with the dealer's WDH (no anti-sway) to do a run to the scales before we bought to make sure all the numbers work. ๐Ÿ™‚

Next was from dealership to our house with dealer's el-cheapo nothing hitch.

After was using el-cheapo hitch because we absolutely had to move the TT.

Then it was with the ProPride back to our home, and

Finally was tonight with the ProPride from our home to storage location.

None of these trips were very long, the longest being the one from the dealership to our home.

We noticed when we drove with the WDH and the really el-cheapo one that there was some "bouncing" and vertical movement. Nothing white knuckle but a bounce none the less. Otherwise it was quite a smooth ride and we were fairly pleased (knowing we were getting a PP hitch in the near future).

The ride with the PP is quite different and I (the wife / co-pilot ;)) am concerned that things are not quite right. There seems to be a fair (not significant, but it's definitely there) amount of front to back "jerking" movement. I likened it to how a chameleon walks- this of course is highly exaggerated and we weren't THAT jerky going down the road but it felt like it at times. It was not a white knuckle experience and it was very pleasant when the huge semis flew past us ๐Ÿ™‚ but my gut says that something is not quite right. It was not the most comfortable ride. It certainly felt like the trailer was pushing us along at times? Does this make sense?

I haven't been able to get to the scales with the TT yet since we got it 7 days ago. There have been several crises that we've had to work through and we just couldn't get to it. However, I did buy a Sherline tongue scale with with PP hitch and we were at just 10% of TT weight on the tongue. We were probably too light but we had to get the TT out of our neighborhood (hooray for crappy bylaws) and the sun was going down and there was minimal time to load it up (we weren't going camping). We did have a full fresh water tank which we couldn't dump (please just trust me on this, I don't want to have to explain myself) so that could have been the issue.

What would cause this front/back jerking motion when towing and what can be done to fix this? Or is this part of how it tows with a PP hitch?

ETA: I guess the best thing to do would be to call and talk to Sean and PP but thought I'd ask here as well. Dh hasn't towed anything in over 20 years and I've only ever been in a truck towing a small horse trailer. He followed all the instructions to a "T" and was methodical about the set-up. We just aren't sure what to expect or what would need to be addressed at this point.

I am going to be ordering a PP hitch so I am curious as to what you find out. Call Sean and see what he says. I gotta believe he can get you fixed up quickly

I think you can fix that by adjusting the height of the jacks - either up or down. I had the same problem and fixed mine by moving it up.

Due to the low payload in my sequoia I'm letting only 11% of tongue weight now. ETA: I'm leaving most of my weight on the trailer axles.

You need 13% tongue weight, that is 13% of the loaded, ready to travel weight.

The super cheap piece of******hitch that the dealer lent us to get the tt home with because our ProPride had not yet arrived. E hitch was neither WDH or anti-sway. It (the ProPride) was supposed to have been here but wasn't and arrived a day and a half after we got the trailer home.

Likely too light on the tongue weight. Load her ready to camp and weight the tongue. Should be closer to 13% than 10%.

Check that hitch on the Yukon.

If the factory installed hitch is made of thinwall round tubing from the passenger side to the drivers side, then it might be a weak link. Check it carefully for cracks, and after each tow. Check the paint at the round tubing to square tubing welds, if they start to crack away the paint, or the welds show signs of rust or cracks there, stop towing, and get another vehicle to return your trailer to storage.

A good way to check for stress on the hitch is measure the square part to a fixed point on the Yukon. Then hitch up, and lift the trailer jack. If you see any significant bend in the square tubing to round tubing, you have a problem.

Check to see if ball is correct for trailer receiver. Check for 60% of trailer weight in front of the trailer axle. Check your drive shaft on tow vehicle for bad universals.
