Did you mean:

Toyo AT2 or Terra Grappler G2 or Cooper AT3 or ???

After agonizing far too much, I've decided to keep my stock 17" wheels and go with 285-75-17's. Now to decide between:
Toyo Open Country AT2 Extreme
Cooper Discoverer AT3
Nitto Terra Grapper G2
Other?

Local places I've checked are similar enough on price that I'm ok with either of these, so I'm looking for recommendations/experience with any of them.

Guess I'm like most - I want an aggressive look, but 95% of the trucks life is on the highway - literally highway (60 mile daily round trip for work) so I don't want them loud - respectable all-weather traction, etc.

Big plus is strength for towing/hauling. Currently pull 8000 pound travel trailer, but plan to trade to 11000 pound 5th wheel with about 2000 pin weight - so I really don't want any squishy wiggly sidewalls. Towing/hauling is typical weekend getaway stuff - probably 10 times per year averaging 400 miles on the road each trip.

Can you help a guy out?

The Nitto website still shows the Terra Grappler LT285 70R17E 126R (3750) as available, this is the tire I use. I don't think the Terra Grappler G2 tire was ever offered in a 3750. I stand to be corrected on that statement.

You're correct, afaik.

Sucks to hear that 17s are being bypassed by the best tires. Next truck it'll be 18s so I can keep big tire capacity, never going to be sold on 20s on a 4x4.

I like your choice, pretty much decided on them myself. It was a toss up between the Cooper ,and the Yoyo.

You will no longer find them rated at 3750. 3195 seems to be the new limit for 17" tires. That is why 17" have become the unwanted step child of tires.

I'm currently running a set of Goodyear All Terrain Adventure tires with ~25k miles. After running these tires for 1 year I would buy another set and I actually prefer these tires over my previous BF Goodrich AT2 and Michelin AT2 due to better wear and a smoother ride. In addition they're a 60k mile rated tire, but I'll most likely get ~45k miles on them since I tow a lot.

The only General tires I ever had were total garbage. Toyo, Nitto (owned by Toyo), and Cooper make great tires as far as I'm concerned. I also really like what I've seen of the BFG AT/KO2, although I've only ever owned the previous version of them (AT/KO).

The General Grabber AT2 is very popular around here also, and has great reviews.
I liked the old Grabber with red letters, but it's a little stiff for street use.

I don't know why but I let the tire guy talk me into Mastercraft tires a couple weeks ago for my sons Liberty. Said they were a great tire and made by Cooper. They are junk after two weeks one developed a bubble on the sidewall. Had them remove them all and installed General Grabber at2 on it. im on my second set of the generals on my wrangler I just sold my suburban with them on it and running them on my pickup in 315 size. My other son was also running them on his lifted Liberty. They are a great tire.

Had theCooper AT3 for three days now.

So far....very quiet on paved roads. Very good traction plowing in the nor'easter here in New England today.

Towing...let you know in a few days. Towing fifth wheel to FL. Goodbye snow.

In this case it boils down to most reputable dealer and price. Tires are to close to call. But, I'd probably give a slight edge to the Cooper.

Toyo AT2 all the way. Made in USA. And sold by Les Schwab which is in every town in the West and a road hazard warranty 2nd to none. Which may not be so important in Alabama. I would buy from the most plentiful dealer in your area with the best warranty!!!
