So the wife and I bought our second (first new) TT at the RV show recently. Sold our other one to make room. Dealership said first week in April it was on the build sheet, and we should have it the 13th.Here it is the 24th, so I give them a call and ask for a new ETA and see what I can expect. Come to find out that the transport company refused to take delivery of the trailer because of 'issues' (he said the stickers were scratched?). Anyone have any idea what exactly this will mean for us? Do they have to rebuild? Concerned because we've already started booking based on the dealers promises that we would have it before the end of April. First trip is May 12th for a 10 day trip to Duluth MN.Is this a common occurrence? Anything I should be on the lookout for besides a gash in the side of a trailer (how would the stickers get scratched anyways?). Hate getting all excited for something, then slowly having the excitement turn into frustration as you watch the days tick away not knowing if you will even have a camper in time.FYI, we sold a used 2010 Kodiak 24RB-SL that we picked up 2 years ago, and bought a new 2018 Salem 27RKSS. It will be a nice upgrade when it finally comes!

I'm really considering going to the dealership and seeing what they have on the lot and telling them to make me an offer I can't refuse. The only customizing we did on the trailer was the larger A/C (15k vs 12), and we went with the cloth instead of the 'leather'I may be throwing them under the bus a little soon, but so far I'm not real impressed. Mainly due to the lack of communication. At this point, I'd forfeit my $500 deposit to take something off the lot (if I have to go somewhere else)

Well, every time I end up in the Elkhart area, it seems you can't swing a dead cat without hitting somebody driving for an RV transporter. I've been at a gas station where there were so many class Cs with transporter plates, line up to fuel, that it looked like a parade. I doubt that a transport co. would need more than a few minutes to find another hauler if the story was true, and the issue minor. Either the trailer you are waiting for had a serious QC or safety issue that the transport company decided to pass up on, or your dealer is weaving quite a tale. Please update, once you hear something, this sounds interesting.

I could see a driver refusing a damaged trailer so his/her insurance does not get stuck with the damage. If that is the case.When I purchased a new trailer it was supposed to be delivered in 4 to 6 weeks. Your Salem is built on the same production line as other brands and they build in production runs when they have enough demand for a model. If this is the case like Midnightsadie said you can call for a build date.

I agree with midnightsadie , , , call the manufacturer with all your paperwork in hand.... Ask for the local sales rep for your area... They SHOULD get you their cell phone number . .Heck,I purchased my new fiver without talking to the local dealer.. I told the rep what I wanted, what I wanted to pay and told them to find a dealer that will do the deal.. You may be surprised as to what all a mfg rep can do.... IF THEY WANT TO that is..

This is basically what he said - that the drivers don't want to accept it when damaged because if they take it, its their problem at that point.

I ordered the trailer in February, and we were told at that time it was 8-10 weeks (knowing about the build runs). Sounds like it should have been/was built in April - but I'm a little concerned its taking longer to actually deliver. Sounds like something might be wrong.

I think I'll take everyone's advice and see if I can't locate a rep from the company itself to get some answers. I've told the dealer I have a trip planned for the 7th of May (when in reality its the 12th). They have said they will figure it out, and I should have it by the 5th. I said this was not ideal since I'm going to need time to actually pack it! Guess we will see. I've got a week of cushion built in, just thought this thing would have been in my driveway last week. Seems like someone dropped the ball and nobody noticed until I started calling asking for it - now they are scrambling.

It's good for you the transport company refused to deliver a flawed trailor, otherwise, it would have ended up at the dealer's and they don't see flaws. I believe you should consider youself fortunate.

don,t hold your breath on that may 5th date, quit talking to the dealer and call the factory. p.s not all dealers are like this some care about there customers.might tell us who it is so we can stay away.

Also, if you would have expected delivery last week or before, your new trailer would have been in a snow drift with two feet of snow on the roof. Count your blessings, it may be something as simple as a scratched ID plate where the driver's been instructed not to pick up without a valid number on the tag.
