Travel Trailer Brand

Looking for feedback from anyone familiar with this brand. Looking at a Heartland North Trail 21FBS. Will pull with a 2014 Dodge Ram Hemi 5.7L, with a 3.92 rear axle ratio, 8 speed auto trans with tow package. Thanks.
  • Don't know anything about the TT you're asking about but it sure looks real nice!
  • See my sig. Ours is the upgraded Caliber Edition.

Pros: DW likes the big bathroom, lack of a bedroom divider, and the amount of storage in it for a small TT. At 27' I can still get it into some of our favorite sites from our pop-up days. The vent over the bed is nice, I wish it were powered.

Cons: It's for 2 people only (or maybe that's a Pro?). The counter top scratches easily. The Wide Trak axles scrub the tires pretty badly in a tight turn. The Lippert electric stabilizers are slow and the design still allows for a lot of side to side rocking. The kitchen is a bit small but that's the trade off for a big bathroom. I wish it had windows on the slide ends, there's no forward view at all in it.

Did you look at a 22FBS? It's 3' longer and has a couch. But we have a couple of folding chase lounges we use for watching TV.
The electric awning is convienent but not as robust in the wind as a manual one.
I see the new models put the water pump under the sink and give you a drawer under the stove now.

Surf on over to the Heartland Owners Forum and see what others have to say.
  • 5 years of memories with our North Trail. I highly recommend the Caliber Edition too. The wide axles combined with our cul de sac caused our axles to get out of alignment. Otherwise, no issues for dealer repairs.
  • We love our 22FBS Caliber Edition. As was said above, the full bath in the back is more roomy than virtually anything out there.

I walked though a lot of TT's in the last week and happily reported to my DW that there wasn't anything that came close to tempting me on a change.

On the plus side it looks like current models (including the 21FBS) have larger tanks than when mine was built. And I'm pretty sure they added a side window in the dinette slide.
