Travel Trailer Purchase - Brand?

Going to purchase my first travel trailer soon. My question is- are there certain brands clearly better than others? I know this a very open questions like "what motor oil is best" But I would like here some thoughts.
Basically I will be looking to purchase a used 25-30 foot, probably in the 7-10K price range. Trailer will stay in Florida in fixed location if that matters.
  • If you look around and can handle a couple of less feet, you may be able to find one like mine new.

I have a Salem Cruise Light 22RBXL that I bought new for $9,900. Its been perfect for me.
  • I'd look for something with bad tires, bent axles, bad gray water shut off valve(s) and clean inside and out.
  • bad tire, etc indicate is hasn't been used much I assume?

All I really require is a slide out, rear bed room and bathroom at have their own doors.
  • In that price/size range you're talking something used so I think the brand is going to be less important than how it was used and maintained.
  • Also the dealer needs to meet your needs , meet with all the service people , ask questions

    I would agree.
  • I suggest that the number one thing to look at is the roof and any signs of water damage due to leaking seals. Due to how well my 2002 Sunline TR280 has held up, looking for an older Sunline may be a good idea. They were well made trailers with great cabinet work...but heavy by today's standards. Once you find something, I'd spend a lot of time removing old roof caulk/sealant and then reseal with appropriate material for the type of roof. Do a thorough check of propane gas lines, electrical lines, etc. Consider that replacing older refrigerators can by expensive, as well as AC units. Of course, if you have the know how to do a lot of your own work, you can save a lot of money.

Good luck...hope you find something that will work!
