Truck Camper Humor ...

Well.. I had a headache before reading it already.

Uhm, am I missing something? Not finding humor or anything seeming to be funny in the post :h

I just don't get truck camper humor.

Gordon and Angela White at Truck Camper Magazine, the subject of this post, are the smartest, most committed, hardest working people in this Truck Camping community. Best read Gordon's declaration of war on the smug RV crowd. They're right, truck campers are the Marine Corps of RVs and deserve the highest respect....and we're funny too ;-)

X2! Gordon and Angela are our type of people. Down to earth and honest. If someone doesn't get their humour so be it. We enjoy their humour and their objective points of view.

67avion, that's the crux of the post I think? While we might carry the moniker of "tougher than the rest" (had to slide in some Springsteen) for the most part, a lot of truck campers run contrary to other rv'ers. We fabricate, blacksmith, and modify both truck and camper beyond typical OEM specs. Plus, we all go in different directions! I'm not an overlander, been called a "barge and land yacht" but respect almost everybody's desire to travel with a truck camper. TCM is a resource that has plenty of great info, but the rally cry might be falling on an audience of people that choose to "go their own way"(Fleetwood Mac).
The music references put me at just 60+ and knowing you read TCM, Host is a manufacturer NOT referenced by them and does not put a COG sticker on their builds. I almost live in a witness protection program for truck campers (humor)-

I'm sure they are wonderful people but I am confused by their practice of excluding certain brands from their publication.

Some have speculated that it has to do with only including brands that pay them for advertising. That seems to diminish their credibility for objectivity. I know this is common practice in many magazines but nonetheless if they focus their brand attention based on ad revenue they should be taken with a grain of salt IMO unless brands that are not represented are excluded at the manufacturers request.
